Background information, content
"Ken SCHLES' photo book 'Invisible City', first published in 1988, is still considered a cult documentary of urban life. Life in the Lower East Side is documented in footage over a period of ten years. It is a gripping portrayal of a world to which only a few had access. Alongside 'Paris de Nuit' by BRASSAIS and 'Love on the Left Bank' by Ed van der ELSKEN, 'Invisible City' is considered one of the great depictions of nocturnal bohemia in the 20th century.
Twenty-five years after this groundbreaking volume of photographs, the US-American photographer New Yorker tells of his lost youth in the series 'Night Walk'.
