Background information
"The book set 'Four Books in a Box' provides insights into Joseph BEUYS' most original works and at the same time honors his extraordinary 18-year collaboration with Klaus STAECK and Gerhard Steidl. Political poster artist Klaus STAECK began collaborating with Joseph BEUYS as early as 1968, publishing postcards, posters, silkscreens and multiples by the artist. From 1972 Gerhard Steidl took over the printing and production of editions by Joseph BEUYS for Klaus STAECK. In addition, the poster artist and the publisher jointly installed exhibitions of the artist and documented in photos and videos many of his lectures, workshops and performances - about art, life and the social sculpture: Beuys' theory that everything is art and everyone is an artist.
Content
The 'Four Books in a Box' slipcase contains the following individual volumes:
- 'Beuys in America'
'Periphery Workshop'
'Honey's Flowing in all Directions'
'Economic Value Principle'
Each volume in this box is devoted to a specific BEUYS project: his infamous visit to America in 1974, his installation 'Honeypump in the Workplace' at documenta 6 in 1977, the 'Periphery Workshop' at documenta 6, and the opening exhibition of 'Economic Values' at the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent in 1980.
'Four Books in a Box' shows the artist in his full showman manner, but also in private moments, and provides an exciting look at Beuys the person through the eyes of those who knew him best.
